Circular IKEA is one of the roads forward to reach many more of the many people with smarter use of resources, by prolonging the life of products and materials, giving them more value within the limits of one planet.

Job Description

The first step on the circular journey is to prepare our range and supply for a circular business, meaning develop our product offer according to the nine design principles and develop our supply chain for using resources smarter, with more renewable, recycled materials and minimize waste. Parallel we will explore the business opportunities that is ahead of us to better understand how we as IKEA can continue to grow and make business within the limits of one planet and staying relevant to the customer behavioural change of not wanting to be wasteful.

A Circular business has an impact on many things we do in IKEA and to be able to succeed we need to work even more together and interdependent including external partners. We also need to be able to dare to lead and move forward without all answers.

When moving into a more circular business there are several things related to requirements we need to secure. One of the pre-requisites for a more circular IKEA is to secure a toxic-free circulation of materials, as IKEA do not accept that recycling happens at the expense of chemical safety. Also not all our markets accept secondary materials in all types of products and if it´s being used it needs to be clearly informed about.

Therefore we are right now looking for a Product Requirement Specialist with the purpose to lead and support the implementation of the Circular design principles with a first focus on design with recycled and renewable materials, mainly focusing on legal requirements. More specifically the task will be to lead the work to develop mainly chemical requirements, but also requirements related to product information. This is to secure compliance and enable high performing products on all aspects of Democratic Design.

The role will work closely with various stakeholders both within and outside the organisation and outside IKEA.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you need to be a person that can lead different stakeholders and communicate in a clear and simple way. Experience from requirement-related work, as well as knowledge within the chemistry area is preferred. Experience from work related to recycled materials is considered as additional qualifications.

We believe that you have a university degree within the area of chemistry, or similar. Ability to work in a structured way is a pre-condition, as well as excellent communication skills. Acting and leading according to the IKEA values is crucial.
