The role of the supply process is to buy, produce and distribute the IKEA range at the lowest total cost, making high quality available to the customer under good social and environmental conditions. Purchasing & Logistics Area North Europe is one of total 9 Purchasing & Logistics Areas within IKEA, and our co-workers are based in Älmhult, Dortmund and Kaunas.

Job Description

New Business Function under Purchasing & Logistic Area North Europe aims to contribute the business by identifying market and business opportunities and act on new business assignments in existing and new sourcing markets, transforming these opportunities and assignments into products and ranges for the many people.

Together with a team you will:

  • identify market and business opportunities (market intelligence): mapping of the industry, suppliers, new technologies, materials, components.
  • Develop some business cases based on the market opportunities and the needs of the IKEA range.
  • Establish relations with new suppliers and select the right partners according to IKEA values and guidelines.
  • Together with each supplier set the goals and create action plans.
  • Secure all the steps to start up the business: negotiate the prices, develop products with the right quality, get the support of our sustainability and quality auditors to assess the suppliers, implement IKEA tools and procedures and be responsible for the delivery of the 1st order.
  • In all situations act as an IKEA Ambassador.

Qualifications

 

  • Solid purchasing knowledge and understanding of how supply chain works.
  • Capability to lead projects from starting point up to the first delivery.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about business and people.
  • Entrepreneurship-thinking with always the big picture in mind.
  • Proactive attitude and enjoys taking initiative in different situations.
  • Ability to make decision and take responsibility.
  • Very curious for new ways of working, techniques, innovation.
  • Willing to work in a truly international environment and travel within Europe on a regular basis.
  • Share the IKEA values, culture and have a strong interest to work for a home furnishings company.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
