Job Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineering you will create, anchor and communicate common point of view for the technical agenda. You will take a stand in the important matters but you will be also willing to challenge known patterns.
You will be responsible for:
• Develop the mechanical design of products in the field of different materials and functions in the business area range from concept sketch to final product.
• Develop and maintain the digital models on a detail level.
• Securing that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design.
• Order, manage and be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department.
• Evaluate construction with FEM analysis before testing on prototypes is performed.
• Finalize and maintain drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances.
• Establish a network within IKEA of Sweden and be active in user forums for the role Mechanical Design Engineer.

Qualifications
We believe that you are highly committed and self-driven person. You have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You will be an important cog in the technical team working with product development and product improvement of the running range. You have experience of working in product development in different kind of materials and production methods. Your will be experienced with very good competence related to 3D CAD engineering and a good understanding of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning. Knowledge of SolidWorks and an experience working with plastic and metal will be considered as an added advantage. You will be a very practical person that you could make things happen with your bare hands.
Furthermore you have strong communication skills and the ability to create confidence and build relations and more you will be a problem solver. You are self-motivated and a goal - and delivery oriented person with a passion for details.
IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
Additional Information
The position is permanent and located in Älmhult, Sweden. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö and an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
