About the job

IKEA Transport is a part of IKEA Purchasing and Logistics and is responsible for the steering, co-ordination and development of the Transport solutions for IKEA. This includes creating and maintaining sustainable transport set-ups in close cooperation with external business partners as well as the internal stake holders in the IKEA Supply Chain.

About the assignment
In your assignment as a Business Developer, you will be responsible to find new external service providers based on long term business needs, develop and negotiate agreements to secure transport capacity with a positive service-, availability-, quality-, price- and cost-development, build long term plans with service provider within defined scope. Your focus is also to minimise the environmental impact and be on top of the technology development therein. You will be ultimately responsible for all business discussions with a number of carriers in your scope and to optimise the flows in your predefined market.
 
Your main focus will be to: 

  • Have overall responsibility for the business with a defined number of service providers and a defined business scope
  • Secure performance in all aspects as per defined goals and KPIs by developing effective relationships internally and externally
  • Continuously challenge and support service providers to constantly improve all aspects of their performance, capabilities and increase their overall competitiveness through new business opportunities, smart transport solutions, innovations
  • Identify and act on commercial opportunities, create preconditions for service providers’ production cost-down and secure respective price impact.
  • Establish and secure the fulfilment of the transport agreement/contract
  • Increase the share of low emission transport modes and usage of alternative fuels
  • Secure co-operation with Supply Partners to optimize results
  • Take the role as IKEA ambassador when communicating with external parties.

Qualifications

About you

We are looking for you with experience from working with business development. Experience from other parts of the supply chain are valuable as well as a deep knowledge and understanding of the transport industry.

You will work in an international environment and must be fluent in English, both spoken and written. You have a University degree in Logistics, Economics or business administration or equivalent work experience. We want you to be business minded, able to analyse the market, lead the business with holistic view, challenge cost structure and be comfortable negotiating with stake holders. You have good knowledge of the Supply Chain, able to take decisions, find synergies, optimise the network and spot business opportunities. You able work in midterm perspective to deliver the goals, but also to conceptualise and build/deliver long term plans. You will be part of a team and working together to deliver result but also able to work independently.
