Company Description

 IKEA Supply (Middle East) DWC-LLC is the wholesaler of IKEA Products to the IKEA Franchisee’s in United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt. Each retailer supplied by IKEA Supply (Middle East) DWC-LLC are ultimately responsible for the import into their respective countries. To support this, ISME is responsible to provide invoices and related documents and certificates, to support post entry controls and corrects. In addition the Customs team provides support during external audits and user support for IT for transactions inside the Dubai South Free Zone. So the objectives of the Customs Team are to secure a well-functioning import and export process to support our strategic goal of having products available when customers want it which supports the core processes in supplying and thereby contribute to total lowest cost.

Job Description

In this role you:
•    Manage import and export related activities in Dubai South Free Zone in accordance with delegation from Company Management including securing efficient and effective internal controls and compliance with internal and external rules and regulations.    
•    Lead and develop the Customs team in accordance with “Leading Business & People Together” Ensure competence level in accordance with responsibilities including back-up and succession planning.  
•    Establish and agree KPI’s with Regional Customs manager communicating in the organization as well as monitor the state.  
•    Continuously evaluate current ways of working, identify control weaknesses, develop solutions and implement improvements

•    Support the establishment of one common annual business plan for customs operations, related to Dubai South Free Zone and deliver agreed activities. 
•    Handle the coordination towards authorities, retailers as well as customs brokers/agents when applicable.  
•    Manage and maintain daily interaction with customs authorities as well as manage and control external audits and local certification procedures. 
•    Take active part in the development of customs operations IT landscape and provide support in the implementation of a new global customs solution 
•    Contribute to regional/global development via for example projects and establishment of working methods.

Import and export related to Dubai South Free Zone are ultimately the responsibility of the company management at the importing and/or exporting company but in order to ensure efficiency the day to day activities along with the responsibility are delegated to the Customs manager.
 

Qualifications

In order to be successful in this role you need to have/be:
•    Customs education and at least five years of previous experience from import/export operations, logistics and representation
•    Good understanding and knowledge about supply chain operations
•    Excellent knowledge about customs related rules and regulations
•    Experience from working in a process oriented organisation
•    Eager to work in a global environment and to accept and take advantage of diversity
•    Enjoying working in a fast growing company and facing challenges arising from subsequent growth
•    Eager to learn, keen on details, willingness to know “Why”
•    Eager to drive change and find optimal solutions
•    Proven ability to lead and inspire people
•    High level of communication and negotiation skills
•    Previous experience from dealing with external authorities
•    Fluent in English (written and oral)
•    Skills in MS Office Package
