Sustainability Manager to Category Area Comfort with location in Sweden, Poland, Romania, Lithuania or Russia

Category Area Comfort is sourcing sofas, work chairs, mattresses, pillows and quilts for all IKEA stores globally. We are 180 co-workers in 14 different locations. We are passionate about comfort and work closely with approx. 150 suppliers across the world. Now we are looking for a new Sustainability manager to join us!

Job Description

In your role, you will lead and develop the sustainability agenda within the Category Area and work cross different IKEA organisations. You work together with the Category Managers and the Category business teams to support in developing and implementing actions at the suppliers. You are leading two Sustainability Developers and are part of the Category Area management group. You report to the Category Area Manager. The job requires travel of approximately 60-80 days per year.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Develop and lead sustainability agenda in the Category Area including IWAY (IKEA’s code of conduct) and secure Implementation of our Material direction
• Secure right pre-conditions and support category business teams to develop suppliers within sustainability
• Identify more sustainable and circular solutions in our supply chain and capture synergies across categories
• Provide input on how we can improve products, components and materials supporting cost, quality, sustainability, form and function 
• Be a role model of IKEA values
• Merge sustainability agenda with the business focus of lower costs, better quality products

• Good level of communications skills and good at building networks
• Good knowledge and understanding of supplier production and processes
• Good at translating strategies into actions at supplier level
• Passion to build good business by connecting sustainability- and business goals
• Experience in meeting up external parties and genuinely interested in understanding different markets and the reality of production
• Knowledge of or interest to learn about comfort materials
• Experience from procurement, purchasing, supply chain or similar.
