Now we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Business Area Kitchen & Dining. 

About the job
As Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible to translate requirements through ideas and concepts into technical solutions captured in our product documentation. We apply a right from the beginning approach with proactive analytics methods in order to ensure we meet our customers need and legal requirements.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
•    Develop, optimize and visualize the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions in the business area range from concept sketch to final product; 
•    Ensure that all mechanical requirements (legal as functional) are covered by the product design;
•    Responsible to apply Design for Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Logistic, Cost, Assembly and Sustainability; 
•    Responsible to perform basic Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) analysis such as static finite element analysis (FEA) and optimization including act as interface towards simulation engineers;
•    Create and maintain Bill of Materials, 3D CAD models and drawings including relevant dimensions and tolerances;
•    Order, manage and be the main contact with IKEA of Sweden prototype department.
 

Qualifications

We believe that you are dedicated, self-motivated and a delivery oriented person with a passion for Mechanical Design and Product Development. You have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You have a wide experience in different materials and production methods with very good competence related to 3D CAD engineering and preferably a good understanding of FEM analysis and basic structural dimensioning. Knowledge in SolidWorks 3D CAD and PTC, Windchill will be considered as an advantage.

You are a practical person that could make things happen with your bare hands. Furthermore you are a problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to create confidence and build relations.

IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.

The position is located in Älmhult, Sweden. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö, as well as an an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
