About the job

As a Product Development Engineer (PDE) for LivingRooom & Workspaces you are responsible for bringing in all technical aspects into the product development cycle and act as a technical project leader. You have the exciting task to lead a team of highly skilled engineers and together you will help to develop product range for the many people.

The assignment  

It is all about leading the technical development in the product development process to secure creative, production adapted solutions that exceed customer expectation in quality. It consists of actively searching for information and knowledge contributing to technical development and share this amongst the product development team members and technical specialist. The PDE is highly involved in defining, executing, delivering and maintaining the product development project as well as securing the right competence and resources from a technical perspective. The PDE is responsible overall for leading and making sure the technical development projects are carried through and delivered in time, and following up on the results. Delivery, leadership, communication and working with people are a large focus in this role.   

Together with the Product Offer Development team the PDE is responsible for developing, revising and leading implementation of action plan for cluster of products (NEWS, IMPROVES and MOVES). This also includes responsibility for execution of NEWS, i.e. actual projects based on total action plan in the Business Area/Home Furnishing Business.   

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has relevant technical work, and project lead, experience and most likely a University degree in Engineering. To be successful in this role the person needs to be an excellent communicator and have a strong passion for people - to lead, manage, motivate together with the ability to create togetherness. An analytical mind-set in combination with a holistic view on strategic business decisions and the capability to build strong relations and trust with stakeholders and team members is essential. Apart from being an experienced Project Leader, it is considered as great advantage if the person have knowledge within a wide span of materials, construction and production technique. 

To be a PDE requires a way of bringing about enthusiasm, delegate responsibility and make people exceed expectations. This person is energetic, takes an easy going and straight forwards approach and is driven by creating pre-requisite for innovation, problem solving and have a sound business mind, always with the customer in focus.

The position is located in Älmhult, Sweden. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö and an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg two times a day.
