IKEA Range & Supply has the responsibility to develop, design, produce and supply IKEA store with home furbishing solutions available to the many people. Each year IKEA Range & Supply introduce 2,000 new products in the IKEA stores. The total range is almost 10,000 products.

Job Description

The Packaging Development Manager is globally responsible of securing that our products reach the customers’ homes un-damaged and intact, at the lowest possible total cost, thanks to good packaging solutions. Good packaging is a pre-requisite for the IKEA Concept and a key element in our success.

We are therefore looking for someone who can ensure that all IKEA’s packaging solutions work as intended and comply with IKEA’s demands - today and tomorrow. This from a holistic and strategic perspective throughout IKEA and the total value chain according to the IKEA Democratic Design objectives i.e. Form, Function, Sustainability, Quality and Price, by engaging and inspiring all stakeholders.

The Packaging Development Manager is responsible for:

• Communicate, anchor, coordinate, steer and secure the fulfilment of the IKEA Packaging Strategy.
• Organize, lead and encourage stakeholders in the IKEA Value chain with the aim to contribute to growth by developing IKEA packaging in the context of one IKEA.
• Translate long-term priorities into clearly defined result targets and steer all involved towards these targets.
• Manage and lead the Packaging development department, securing competence, personal development and secure succession.
• Secure readiness of Packaging solutions in the Supply Chain to strengthen automation
• Be an active contributor to a successful Multichannel Retailer

You will report to Vladimir Brajkovic, Development manager and be part of the management team in Development function and in matrix to Claudio Marconi, Logistics Development Manager Inter IKEA

To be successful in this role, you must:
• You have experience in a fast moving Multichannel Retailers, where Packaging is a crucial part of the total customer experience
• As an Engineer, several years of experience within IKEA from operational and strategic roles giving you deep understanding of our value chain, from material and suppliers to end customers
• As a leader, the ability to build and maintain strong and trustful relationship with the relevant stakeholders in the global matrix organization you are acting in
• Have a proven record of successful leadership within different areas of the value chain within IKEA.
• Be comfortable, with the principles of the Democratic design as a base, leading and influence senior specialists and other relevant stakeholders
• Have a great knowledge and interest of packaging from a technical, strategical and operational perspective.
• You have the interest and get a part of your motivation, in trends, developments and new technologies when it comes to packaging.
• You have a process and concept oriented mind-set with a good analytical and pro-active approach.
• You have a genuine interest in people and their life at home, today and tomorrow.
