About the job 

As the Engineering & Quality Manager of Category Area - Electronics you will report to the Category Area Manager and belong to the Category Area Management team. Together with the Category Area Manager and the Category Managers you will lead the global engineering and the quality agenda for the Category Area and define goals and priorities based on IKEA Quality Strategy and the Category Strategy. You will contribute to the development and implement the global category strategies in the Category Area with a time horizon of 3+ years, and secure improvement of existing material and production technologies for the categories. Furthermore, you will support implementation of category plans by securing the right pre conditions for business development teams to perform and secure connection with the EQR (Engineering, Quality and Requirement) Development Manager in the Business Area (BA).

Other tasks which will be included in your assignment are;
•    Together with Category Area Manager and the Category Managers, Lead the engineering and quality agenda for categories Kitchen Appliances, Luminaries, Light Engines and Power Solutions.
•    Lead the Manufacturing Developer and the Material & Technology Engineer in the Category area
•    Be matrix responsible for the Engineering and Quality leaders –and secure the competence development of the Production and Product engineers within the category area, securing achievement of competence and succession goals to support business needs.
•    Contribute with leadership for a close collaboration with the Home Furnishing Business and Range Development.
•    Develop and capture synergies across categories in terms of ways of working and material/production technology development, and secure implementation when relevant.
•    With support from the Quality Compliance Manager secure implementation of global working methods and IT systems, for the technical processes
•    Contribute actively as a member of the Category Area Managementr
•    Lead and contribute to IKEA global development projects in the field of Quality and Engineering for (at least 20% of the assignment)

Qualifications

We offer a challenging role where you will get the possibility to lead and implement the quality strategy for the Category Area-Electronics. As our Engineering and Quality Manager for Category Area – Electronics, you need to have very good understanding of the Strategic Landscape within Purchasing and Quality and the IKEA business model for Growth. You also need to have a very good understanding of Category plans Supplier Development plans and Product Development process. You need to have a passion for driving a clear quality agenda in this type of industry with a capability to understand the technology, production processes and the total value chain. Prior experience in the field of Electronics and experience in similar industries production will be useful to the assignment.. Other areas of importance include good knowledge in the complete value chain process, supplier capabilities, material & production processes, category specific material and technologies and project Management tools. Furthermore, it is essential that you have a good understanding of how your everyday work adds customer value by delivering to Democratic Design (form, function, quality, sustainability, low price). 

 
•    You lead business with a holistic and analytical mind-set, always with the customer, supplier, total IKEA and Quality in mind.
•    You are a manager, coach and mentor and you deliver results by involving, leading, developing and inspiring people in a remote environment.
•    You combine strategic work with a hands-on approach and you have the ability to communicate a complex assignment in logic, clear and simple manner.
•    You have a passion for products and customer driven approach for better quality.
•    You have a drive to deliver results by working through people in an international context.
•    You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Quality field with a minimum of 3 years of senior leadership experience in a Global business.

Location
The Engineering & Quality Manager will be located in Älmhult, Sweden, to be close to the Category Managers and the Range Development at IKEA of Sweden.

This role will require extensive travelling.
