Job Description

Right now, we are looking for a Deputy Interior Design Competence Manager. Someone with the ambition to help make people´s home furnishing dreams come true. A communicator with an eye for aesthetics. Someone who’s passionate about interior design and life at home and enjoys leading people. And who likes to do things just that little bit differently.

The Interior Design Department at IKEA Communications creates and produces home furnishing solutions and communication based on their knowledge of the way people live …and the way they’d like to live. 

As Interior Design Deputy Manager you will lead our Interior Designers, helping them stay in tune with evolving technologies, trends and social changes, and enabling them to produce high-quality home furnishing solutions.

The assignment will include:

  • Leading, inspiring and developing people while maintain a keen business focus.
  • Ensuring that resources are best allocated to secure efficiency and high-quality output.
  • Responsibility for communication and collaboration with clients as well as internal ICOM stakeholders regarding allocation, delivery and follow-up on Interior Design resources.
  • Responsibility for sourcing external resources and building and maintaining an up-to-date network with excellent home furnishing competence.
  • Keeping up with new techniques and the latest technology trends in VR, AR and beyond.
  • Securing a high-quality execution of home furnishing solutions and ensuring the uniqueness of the IKEA identity in all communication.
  • Leading by example in ways that express the IKEA values both within and outside IKEA operations.

You are also able to identify new trends around the world that can bring value to home furnishing communication. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • The ability to priorities, organize and a possess a proven problem-solving ability.
  • Good people skills and the ability to create confidence and build relations.
  • Natural seniority and skills in leading creative people.
  • The understanding that what’s good for the customer is good for us.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor degree within Design/Interior Design or equivalent knowledge acquired elsewhere.
  • Extensive experience working in an interior design team within IKEA, a retail interior design team or interior design studio.
  • Experience in managing, leading and developing a creative team, preferably gained in an interior design environment.
  • Creative, commercial and visual competence.
