About the job

As a Product Development Engineer (PDE) in Textiles you are responsible for bringing in all technical aspects into the product development cycle and act as a technical project leader. The PDE is responsible for planning and leading the technical resources in the product development projects and securing all parts of Democratic Design from a technical perspective to secure creative, production-adapted solutions to exceed customer expectations.

-    Responsible for the product development projects from a technical perspective throughout the total value chain;
-    Developing fabric constructions along all technical aspects: yarn parameters, loom set-up, and weave design specifications;
-    Translating aesthetic needs to technical values and executing fabric development briefs based on set parameters;
-    Responsible for the administration/organisation of development information;
-    Creating technical requirements for verifiable technical solutions based on identified customer needs;
-    Responsible for material utilization-related cost calculations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role we see that you have a Textile Engineering background with experience working with textile development and/or manufacturing. You are determined and driven by innovation with a problem solving approach built on curiosity, courage to try new solutions and explore the unknown. You have the capability to build strong relations with stakeholders. You are passionate about creating the best technical solutions for the customer at the right price with the right quality, beautiful design and focus on sustainability.

-    Excellent understanding of fabric development from a technical aspect;
-    In-depth knowledge of textile production;
-    Knowledge of fibres, yarn spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, finishing processes and washing techniques;
-    Project leading experience;
-    Project specific technical knowledge (requirements, market, customer, technical solutions);
-    Supply Chain knowledge - cost drivers, handling of goods, raw materials;
-    Good knowledge of project management methodology (e.g. time, task, resource planning, cost estimation and KPI follow up);
-    Relevant IT tools knowledge (weaving programs).

This is a permanent position based in Älmhult, an inspirational working environment, based on creativity and innovation, which gives you the opportunity to work and interact with people from all around the world.
