About the job

We are now looking to strengthen our support to the Range & Supply part of our business, with focus on Purchasing, by recruiting a talented Legal Counsel who has a business minded approach. The Legal Counsel will review, maintain and sustain the legal aspects of the businesses and operations in a global Purchasing dimension in order to secure the rights and assess the obligations with a goal to maintain a balance between business opportunities and legal risks.

In this role you will:
• Support the business in legal matters related to global Purchasing.
• Support to implement corporate governance for the companies belonging to Inter IKEA Range & Supply
• Prepare and conduct training for relevant stakeholders in laws and regulations, corporate structures, decision making and managerial responsibility and standard agreements

Furthermore, the Legal Counsel has a continuing responsibility to support the business in order to secure the rights and assess the obligations in order to balance exposure to legal risks and enable commercial opportunities for IKEA, together with colleagues from the legal team.

About the assignment

The assignment includes:
• Draft agreements and support negotiations
• Monitor and secure the legal aspects of Purchasing related matters,
• Give day to day assistance on legal matters within contract management and commercial agreements, as well as dispute resolution.
• Working in close collaboration with the business persons as well as other members of the legal department.
• Support the Legal Strategy and thereto connected goals.
• Ensure and maintain a good cooperation with and between core areas, group functions and other function/ areas.
• Provide advice to relevant stakeholders on opportunities to optimise their legal position in order to balance risks and opportunities.
• Keep updated in relevant legal developments.

You will be based in Pratteln and report to the General Counsel for Range & Supply.

Is this the right challenge for you?

You have completed a degree in law and several years of relevant qualified professional experience as an in-house legal counsel or lawyer in an international legal- or business environment, focusing on commercial contracts. You have a solid understanding of legal systems (or have the ability to acquire), in countries where IKEA conducts business and operations. You have a sound understanding and a sincere interest in business, and you are passionate about contributing with your knowledge to enable the business and optimise our performance.
