Job Description

The Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by assisting in testing activities within the organisation and automating test scripts. This role focuses on automation testing and involves supporting a team of testers, participating in test projects, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality software products. The Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop automation strategies, create scripts, and execute automation to identify and report defects. We are looking for someone who is passionate about software testing and automation. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in software engineering, eager to contribute to a collaborative team and enhance their skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining automation scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing
  • Ensure scripts are reusable, maintainable, and optimized for performance
  • Execute automated test cases and analyse results to identify defects
  • Document and communicate test results, providing detailed defect reports and tracking resolutions
  • Integrate automation tools with test management, CI/CD, and other development pipelines
  • Configure and maintain test environments for automation execution
  • Work closely with developers to understand application engineering and design test strategies
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure testability and adherence to best practices
  • Contribute to building and enhancing the automation framework to support current and future needs

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • Some experience in software testing, including automation testing
  • Experience with automation tools like Selenium or Cypress
  • Hands on coding experience with Python and Java. 
  • Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive, positive, flexible, and resilient
  • Basic understanding of Scaled Agile Framework and backlog grooming
  • Basic experience in SQL.
  • Basic understanding of Dynamics 365.
