Mission

This role is for a senior member of our Site Reliability team. This role expects the candidate to be an exemplary individual contributor to our SRE sprints and to shoulder some of the team’s leadership/mentoring responsibilities.

Duties

• Troubleshoot during production incidents
• Demonstrate Practical Knowledge in the following areas: Release Management; Web Application Development; Linux Administration; Network/Data Center Operations; Source Control Management; Database Administration/Migration(NoSQL and SQL)
• Occasional fill in to lead planning and estimation.
• Mentor  junior team members.
• Contribute to design and strategy conversations
• Delivery autonomously on projects 4-6 weeks in duration overseeing team sizes from 1-3 individuals
• Participate in off hours on-call rotation
• Participate in 1st/2nd level on hours support rotations
• Enforcing compliance requirements
• Manage cloud costs

Individual Outcomes:

• Plan, estimate, commit, and execute on current sprint’s deliverables
• Onboard in 60-90 days from hire date.
• Committing to a full complement of points in each sprint
• Comfortable soloing off hours on-call rotation
• Comfortable with most response plays for on-hours support and delivering within SLA
• Enforce Architectural and Operational Standards for production applications
• Monitor AWS costs
• Meet our SLAs

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of Development, Devops, or Data Center Experience
• Experience with common GitHub developer practices and paradigms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Professional Experience with the following

• Python and/or Java Development
• Ansible/Puppet/Chef
• Docker
• Terraform 
• Linux
• build tools(Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis, etc.)
• AWS or Azure Cloud Administration
• Git
• Rundeck (preferred)
• Network Administration (preferred)
• Practical knowledge of the following areas preferred:
  • Release Management

  • Source Control Management
