Job Description
Position Details:
The RN will provide occupational health nursing, medical, and integrated services consistent with the policies and written guidelines of the Occupational Health program. Services are provided under the mentorship or supervision of a Sr. Occupational Health Nurse or under the general direction of the designated physician (as required by law).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provides nursing services and emergency (first-aid) treatments to employees who become ill or suffer an accident on company premises, arranging for transportation to another care provider, if needed. Notifies all concerned.
2. Under supervision of a physician and per written protocols may administer OTC medication and performs various minor treatments or therapies for injured or ill employees. Administers injections for First Responders (Hepatitis B) or in an emergency may administer epi pin for severe allergic response to an antigen per written protocols.
3. Provides various preventive health evaluations and tests in accordance with the company Health Services program protocols.
4. Conducts health profiles, health evaluations and other services within the integrated employee Health Services & Resources strategy including but not limited to: health promotion education, health screenings, and urine drug screenings.
5. Complies with policies, procedures, written standing orders, protocols and medical directives as required by the company and State Nurse Practice Act.
6. Maintains accurate clinical records, utilizing approved medical, nursing and statistical formats, including computer technology.
7. Advises and counsels employees within areas of core competency and integrated services and makes appropriate referrals (internal and external) when indicated.
8. Provides advice, counsel and access to education to and for first aid personnel.
9. Develops knowledge of the occupational hazards/exposures, and treatment thereof, for the specific location.
10. Assists in the process of medical leaves of absence and Workers’ Compensation as required.
11. Participates in periodic evaluations (customer surveys, trend analysis, etc.) of the effectiveness of the Health Services & Resources services provided to the employees.
12. Assists in maintaining the health facility in an orderly, clean and sanitary condition.
13. Maintains standards of nursing practice.
14. Participates in internal or cross functional projects and teams.
Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse license required.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or equivalent education preferred.
3. Three to five years’ experience in occupational health, emergency room or intensive care nursing required.
4. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
5. 5.Working knowledge of regulatory areas (e.g., ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers’ Comp, STD/LTD)
