Title: Animal Technician

Location: Cambridge , MA

Duration: 6 Months+

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute breeding schemes to support study cohort generation or maintenance breeding

• Receive mice and arrange for housing

• Set up mating pairs, record births and weans

• Perform timed mating and plug checks 

• Took biopsy samples for genotype purpose

• record colony management information timely and accurately into internal databases 

• Perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures

Qualifications: 

• Minimally one year of colony management 

• Basic understanding of genetics and genetic engineering

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 

• Reliable, independent, and able to work in a team environment 

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time. 

• Ability to regularly lift/push, or pull up to 50 pounds 

• Regular work schedule is 40 hours per week in addition to weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. 

This position is a contract position and over time is eligible. 

Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
