Job Description

The purpose of the Phlebotomist s role is to provide the R&D Scientists their daily specimens in a timely manner. Also to act as a Study Program Administrator for the Volunteer Donor Program. The Medical Assistant will provide basic clinical and medical administrative support to the Occupational Health and Wellness Team. May provide basic coverage in case of RN unavailability within Medical Assistant Scope of Practice.

Job Responsibility:

Able to take direction from the OHN, EHS Directors and Managers, Study Principal Investigator(s) and Scientists

Promptly and accurately notifying the OHN, Managers and Principal Investigator of any VDP Study Adverse Events

Promptly and accurately fulfilling VDP Scientists sample requests and notifying them of any sample collection issues that may arise. Promptly notifying the OHN and BERT Team of any Urgent Situation in the Clinic Area

1. Volunteer Donor Program Administration and Specimen Collection

• Responsible for daily management of clinical and administrative aspects of the Program

• Acts as a Study Coordinator for the Scientists

• Collaborates and communicates effectively with the R&D Scientists regarding their upcoming projects

• Responsible for Regulatory Documentation and Data for Annual WIRB Certification

• Responsible for ensuring Program Compliance and Confidentiality

• Responsible for providing adequate supplies in regards to Specimen Collection and Biohazard Transport

• Responsible for communicating with TEI for Biohazard Removal on a Weekly Basis

2. Occupational Health Support

• Assist with Basic Medical Treatment (ex: bandaging, ice/heat pack administration, obtaining Vital Signs)

• Responsible for maintaining Employee Medical Records via Medgate EMR system

• Communicates well with the Occupational Health RN regarding any concerns or issues that may arise

• Responsible for maintaining stock of Clinic Supplies

• Collaborates with the CAM and RTP RN’s on Protocols and Policies

3. New Hire Biometric Screening Program

• Responsible for the Clinical Aspect of the Biometric Program (ex. Capillary Puncture, BP, Height and Weight, BMI)


Qualifications

• The Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant will have Current Certified Medical Assistant Credentials and will maintain their Certification Status.

• CPR/AED/First Aid Training and Certification is preferred, and is desirable as the Medical Assistant may accompany the OHN on BERT Calls.

• Knowledge of EMR Systems is a must, as the Occupational Health and Wellness Center utilizes Medgate EMR Software for recordkeeping purposes.

• Knowledge of Laboratory Requisition Order Entry is a plus, as well as Database Software, Labmatrix is preferred.

• Associate s or Bachelor s in relevant field preferred.

• Minimum 1 year of Phlebotomy skills.

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assisting skills.

• Experience working in a corporate setting is preferred and professional communication skills are a must.

• Strong technical/computer/database skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Strong team orientation, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
