Job Description

Job Description:

Our Client is seeking a contract scientist to join the Protein Formulation and Process Development group. The position will be responsible for a technology investment project with the objective of characterizing sub-visible particle formation during protein formulation processing using cutting-edge analytical technologies. The position will design and execute proof-of-concept experiments with the goal of characterizing the effect of process related stresses on particle formation using scale-down stress models and innovative analytical methods. The ability to work innovatively and independently is a key attribute for this position.

Technical Qualifications:

MUST HAVE: experience analyzing subvisible particulates with instruments such as HIAC and MFI.

Other techniques, such as FTIR, microscopy, DLS, Archimedes, Nanosight, are a plus but not necessarily required.

Also:

Prior hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting is required. Candidate should have a demonstrated record of designing, executing, and documenting laboratory experiments and then reporting/presenting results.

A background in protein science, analytical chemistry, process chemistry or related field is preferred. Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of protein degradation pathways.

An understanding of therapeutic protein drug product manufacturing practices is preferred. Prior experience in process engineering with hands-on experience working with scaled down manufacturing models is a plus.

Hands-on experience with analytical instruments/techniques used for the characterization of protein therapeutics is preferred. Prior hands-on experience or a working knowledge of particulate counting and characterization techniques (MFI, DLS, SEC, HIAC) and spectroscopic methods (FTIR, CD) for structural and compositional analysis is a plus.

Qualifications:

Background in Protein Science, Analytical Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Proficient laboratory skills.

Hands-on experience using analytical instruments and interpreting data. Experience characterizing protein therapeutics is preferred.

Self-motivated with ability to work independently and innovatively.

Education:

A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, or related discipline is required

Industry Experience:

B.S.: 4-6 years

M.S.: 2-4 years

Ph.D.: 0-2 years
