Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Solutions Architect is responsible for the overall design of the CLIENT Enterprise application, and the mapping of business requirements to technical requirements. The Solutions Architect would be primarily responsible for producing project estimates and design documents, and secondarily responsible for building project plans, guiding development and Quality Assurance teams, and working as a team member to deliver a complete solution for CLIENTs customers. RESPONSIBILITIES • Produce a detailed functional design document to match customer requirements and produce a technical specification for development integration requirements. • Provide guidance to Development, UAT and implementation efforts. • Participate in training design, documentation and delivery efforts. • Participate in, and lead when needed, project meetings with the customer. • Participate in internal projects as required. • Participate in process flow analysis and process redesign along with the Project Manager, Account Executive, PMO and Business Solution SME. REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record of success in the dynamic environment of a technical organization within a company that has a rapidly expanding customer base. Candidate must be organized and analytical, adept at working in a team environment, able to design and implement a project schedule, and able to handle multiple priorities. Additional preferred qualifications are: • Strong presentation and communication skills. • High degree of knowledge in the industry of life and health insurance; knowledge of annuities and/or Universal Life is a plus. • Extensive experience in production of project estimates, design documents, and project plans. • Experience with web services and service-oriented architecture. • Experience building interfaces between disparate applications with different kinds of architecture. • Experience presenting designs to external customers, building consensus among multiple stakeholders, and negotiating scope in a fast-paced development environment. • Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into solution designs. • Excellent understanding of the entire software development life cycle including requirements elicitation, design, development, test, release, and support • Knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints. • Must demonstrate good judgment and a pragmatic approach to delivering software that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints, and technological realities. • Participation in, and familiarity with, Agile (Scrum) project methodology and practices is a plus. • Experience with enterprise integration tools and extract, transformation and load (ETL) tools. • Proven Solutions knowledge with 5-7 years of relevant experience EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • B.S., Computer Science or equivalent.
