Job Description

Under the close direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Lead Operator, the Chemical Operator I is responsible for the majority of the material handling tasks in the manufacturing department. The Chemical Operator I must work closely with Chemical Operator IIs and IIIs assisting them in the packaging and mixing operations.

1. Transfer material throughout the department using various material handling equipment, completing electronic inventory transactions as necessary.

2. Stage material for mixing and packaging operations using pick lists and transfer forms.

3. Inspect finished product packages and labels ensuring there are no defects or errors.

4. Complete inspection reports and production logs.

5. Assist in mix area operations and cleaning equipment.

6. Assist in setting up of packaging equipment and packaging of finished product.

7. Communicate errors, observations and any other abnormalities to supervision so issues can be properly addressed.

8. Maintain clean and organized work areas.

9. Work efficiently on assigned tasks to maintain and improve the productivity of the operation.

10. Ensure effective implementation of the Quality system by following procedures.

11. Report unsafe conditions to supervision.

12. Work on any shift either permanently or temporarily to satisfy current business requirements.

13. Participate in safety audits

14. Conform to site ESHA policy and procedures and participates in training as designated.

15. Follow all items listed on the "ESHA related Entries" in Attachment A to this job description High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required plus one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, moving containers of up to 400 lbs on dollies and performing repetitive motion tasks handling packages of 10 to 25 lbs
