Description:
Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Perform Rx Specialty Pharmacy, the state’s professional standards, and other regulatory entities. The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and assists with the preparation, packing and delivery of products and services to patients.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and verify new prescription orders, refill orders and distribution orders while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Select and retrieve appropriate medications, verify quantities, and prepare prescription labels for medications and related supplies.
- Send prescription based orders to Pharmacist for completion and verification.
- Select appropriate packing materials. Enclose client specified materials to order and prepare for shipment.
- Clean dispensing area equipment and replenish workstation supplies, and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Assists with product purchasing, inventory and equipment management.
- With pharmacist participation, contacts caregivers to assist in the procurement and clarification of prescription orders
- Accurately dispenses products in the CPR+ computer system to generate a delivery ticket and/or prescription labels.
- Assists the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies using appropriate techniques and following Perform Rx Specialty Pharmacy policies and procedures. Understands and can perform basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct doses of medications.
- Understands basic drug terminology and therapies/services provided. Understands other areas of Perform Rx and what scope of service the company has to offer. Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
- Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information.
- Understands and complies with HIPAA. Participates in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures.
- Accurately completes quality assurance forms and forwards them to the supervising pharmacist.
- In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Participates in on-call responsibilities of the pharmacy department if required
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
- AS/AA preferred.
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a high volume specialty or retail pharmacy highly preferred.
- Experienced with CPR+ software highly preferred.
- Prescription processing experience in specialty pharmacy
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
