Job Description

Job Title: Buyer II

Location: Corning, NY

Duration: 8+ months

Job Description:

  • Daily operation in a transactional environment, approving purchase orders within your dollar limit according to the Global Buying Policy and Procedures to effectively manage the commitment of funds and the protection of assets to include intellectual property.
  • You will be on a team of approximately twelve people that are in the Shared Services.
  • You may be asked for process improvement ideas or to work on other teams.
  • May work on invoice resolution Accounts Payable when requested, assist Buyers on special requests and facilitate expediting of emergency orders.
  • You will be asked to assist internal customers with Requisition To Payment and Procurement processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services. Checks requisitions, obtains quotations, approves purchase orders.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Required Skills:

  • Communications Skills - working with the businesses, the Global Supply Management function, suppliers and the Shared Services Center
  • Decision Making - must have the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Multi-tasking and Priority Setting
  • Software competencies - Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel - Outlook)
  • Analytical Sills - must display strong analytical qualities
  • Data Analysis - turning data into actionable information

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years professional experience.
  • Supply Chain and Procurement exposure
  • Exposure working on any online ERP i.e. SAP, Ariba, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SRM, etc.
