Job Description

This is a big change for the business, as they re-establish the confidence in a wholly insourced service. It’s given them the opportunity to be ahead of the curve, adopting cutting-edge technology and innovating the structure of our systems. In fact, while other councils have only just started to think about an approach like this, they’re already using technology similar to the private sector. It’s an exciting opportunity to influence ‘what’s next’, connect their ICT department with the wider organisation, and deliver tangible, positive outcomes for both the council and our local community.
As IT Security Manager, you – along with other managers – will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of an effective ICT Operating Plan. This covers several key areas, including:
•the management of the security framework,
•ensuring that the council is PSN and PCI DSS compliant,
•contributing to audit requirements, •test strategy,
•Disaster Recovery (DR),
•and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Much of your time will be taken up with the design and implementation of security policies, standards and controls. You’ll also set wider policies and standards, and manage any security incidents. It’s a vital role, as you help make sure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information, data and services. You will contribute to devising the Council’s strategic ICT direction – implementing agreed priorities and driving forward change. As an experienced manager, you’ll come to us with a demonstrable ability to manage a team of technical security specialists. You’ll also have excellent written, verbal and numeracy skills, and be able to provide an on-call service, and work out of hours, including weekends.
It’s also essential you have an ITIL foundation or higher (or equivalent training/certificate), as well as being a certified Information Security Manager, Information Systems Security Professional/Management Professional, or have equivalent training or experience.
