Job Description

This position is responsible for hiring, managing, developing and being accountable for the Data Management staff and the department.  Responsible for providing oversight of Data Management projects, developing, and implementing strategic plans for Data Management, driving process improvement initiatives, and contributing to Business Development opportunities.  Responsible for meeting assigned operational targets including but not limited to budgets, quality, performance, utilization, retention, SOP development, training, and metrics.  Responsible for establishing positive client relationships and effectively addressing issue escalations.  Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Data Management Department.
  • Plan and develop overall strategies for the future of the Data Management department, including needs for systems and resources.
  • Assume overall responsibility for ensuring the quality and timeliness of data management deliverables to sponsors.
  • Supervise and mentor Data Management staff.
  • Evaluate training needs for departmental staff and ensure they are met, participating in training as appropriate.
  • Manage billable and non-billable time for the assigned department or function.
  • Participate in the creation and review of Data Management Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Track data management metrics on quality and efficiency and participate in the implementation of improvements.
  • Ensure optimal interactions between Data Management personnel and personnel in other departments.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives within the company.
  • Participate in Business Development activities, including sponsor presentations and proposals.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Represent Instat at internal and external meetings.
  • Identify and quantify resource requirements for ongoing and future projects.
  • Oversee and support Lead Data Managers in successfully carrying all data management activities from start-up to close-out.
  • Act as point of escalation to Partners/Sponsors for data related issues. 

 

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or RN with eight (8) years of relevant clinical or data management experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including six (6) years of data management experience.
