Buyer / Planner

• Chicago based food manufacturer with several decades of successes has a need for a Senior Purchasing Agent

Responsibilities:

• Purchase and source raw materials, MRO products and components needed for a food manufacturer
• Purchase products domestically and internationally and monitor assigned category of inventory
• Manage and minimize excess/obsolete inventory
• Prepare weekly delinquency reports and shortage lists with action plans
• Drive a lean process by implementing Kanban, just-in-time, postponement and other materials strategies to reduce inventory while increasing delivery.
• Negotiate prices, leverage buys and analyze purchasing reports to reduce inventory and purchase a quality product at the best possible price
• Maintain integrity of ERP data and maintain accuracy of inventory transactions throughout entire planning and purchasing process
• Interface with chemical manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and distribution teams to ensure inventory accuracy

Qualifications:

• 4 year degree from an accredited university is required; APICS, MBA or Masters degree is preferred
• 5-10 years of purchasing, buying, and inventory planning experience in a manufacturing setting
• Experience with purchasing chemicals, MRO, components, fasteners, bolts, and similar raw components is preferred
• Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office with an advanced MS Excel knowledge of formulas, v-lookups, and pivot tables.
• Excellent communication/presentation skills.
• Able to be hands on and work with operations on a daily basis

Salary: $65,000-75,000
