Job Description
This position must reside in California.
The FIELD DIRECTOR, WEST is responsible for driving business and commercial performance across our a large field team spanning the Agency’s West Division, primarily focus on, but not limited to California.
As a strategic leader, this role reports directly to the Agency's Business Lead and oversees a field marketing team tasked with driving brand and commercial initiatives in the off premise for a large portfolio of spirit brands.
The Field Director will work collaboratively and cross functionally with Agency resources, clients, and our distributor network to identify commercial and/or execution gaps within identified territories using data, and motivating teams to attain and surpass established goals.
Core Responsibilities/Activities:
- The Field Director will oversee a team of managers responsible for exceeding commercial growth goals in a particular division
- Cultivate Opportunities. As a thought partner to the client, seek out opportunities within the division to best leverage resources and partners to attain goals and grow relationships with trade contacts in the off premise
- Communicate regularly with client counterpart and distributor network to align on market execution approaches to market goal setting, account coverage, execution, budget support, distribution, and staffing at the division and territory level
- Hire, onboard, and develop leaders in Team and Field Management, providing feedback, mentorship, and career pathing
- Manage financial responsibilities for divisions, including account support and T&E allocations
- Plan, track, and strategize brand and portfolio engagement using performance data (volume, activities) provided by agency and client
- Collaborate with agency and client analytics resources to craft team strategy and messaging. Present to key stakeholders during high visibility opportunities
- Client Meetings/Gatherings. Communicate and present quarterly plans, identify and execute ways of socializing wins and value add
- Travel and Work-Withs. Travel within the assigned division to work with team members 1:1 to gain an understanding of local successes and challenges.
- Team Meetings/Gatherings. Drive team culture, communicate quarterly plans, and encourage ongoing education
- Legal and Compliance Accountability. Enforce and monitor all legal and marketing code guidelines with direct reports and assigned divisions
Cross Functional Leadership:
- Network Communication. Communicate and partner with leads in other divisions and on complimentary client programs to ensure seamless and efficient in-market executions
- Agency Engagement. Serve as liaison between agency and field division, leading key initiatives including:
- Brand/category knowledge and business skills training
- Brand and portfolio programming implementation
- Drive division-level insights from field
- Division reporting efforts
- Support department-specific requests (HR, Finance, IT, Culture)
What Success Looks Like:
- Exceeding program activity goals within the off-premise environment
- Positive 360º feedback from business lead, direct reports, and client partners
- Effectively communicate local progress and success stories to both agency and client stakeholders, ensuring transparency and comprehension of achievements within the state
- High rate of added value across territory (going over and above with our client partnership in the field)
- High team retention rate/career advancement within agency network
The physical demands of this role require the following:
- Bending, squatting, crouching and reaching, climbing, kneeling, and stooping including to arrange and display point of sale
- Frequent lifting and moving cases of product and other objects of 50 pounds or more

Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in the bev alc industry, agency experience heavily preferred
- College degree (4-year) or B.A./B.S. equivalent with focus on Communications, Marketing or Business
- CPG, spirits, distributor, or broker experience is a plus
- Experience managing field teams and working remotely
- Expertise with leading, coaching, and developing a team
- Expert at communicating clearly and concisely with clients, partners, colleagues, and other professional audiences - both written and verbally
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple projects, and work independently
- This is a remote role but will occasionally require onsite presence in the company headquarters
- Knowledge of alcohol regulations, rules, market trends, and competition preferred
- Manage administrative tasks with attention to meeting agency compliance guidelines and standards
Additional Information
The base compensation range for this job classification is between $110,000.00-$140,000.00 annually. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related skills and qualifications, length of service, brand program, and geographic location. This job classification is bonus eligible, with bonus potential subject to applicable bonus plan terms and conditions.
