Job Description

IT Support Specialist role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, infrastructure, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed. 

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software, and other products in order to deliver required desktop service levels. 

  • Address issues around on-prem (Hypervisor, Storage and networks) and Cloud (AWS & Azure) infrastructure.  

  • Provide support to Tier 3 teams to address on-site DC issues.  

  • Receiving and documenting requests for support. 

  • Updating computer operating systems and other important software, as needed. 

  • Substantiating requests for hardware and software purchases and upgrades, if appropriate. 

  • Providing suggestions on appropriate training for staff.

Achievements/Goals within first 6-12 months: 

  • Understand operations, infrastructure and processes in the initial 3 months.  

  • Start working on Local support for hardware and DC. Global support for Infra + laptop config.  

 

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a computer-centered discipline. Pertinent bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. 

  • Experience as a desktop support technician or equivalent.  

  • Clear understanding of troubleshooting principles for Laptops, OS, Desktop applications.  

  • Basic understanding of VMWare, Storage, Network devices, AWS/Azure would be strongly preferred.

Additional Information

Candidate will be required to visit our Toronto/Vancouver office based on support needs.  

British Columbia Base Salary Range: 48,000 - 61,000 CAD

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
