Job Description

insightsoftware is looking for a talented Content Developer to help create and build out modern documentation and user aids for our Equity Plan Solutions. You will be a core part of the Product Management team working closely with Engineering, Product Marketing, Support, and Customer/Partner Enablement to create resources that don’t just document what the product does but accelerates a user from novice to power user. Customer and partner performance is critical to insightsoftware and the tools you will build will create a powerful impact on adoption. This position will be critical for incorporating corporate branding standards into documentation & learning material, presenting a unified formatting and UX for a diverse product portfolio that was acquired by insightsoftware as part of our M&A strategy. A successful candidate must have the ability to work with a team, but also excel independently, and effectively work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while consistently delivering high quality work.  They must have strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work with product managers, product marketing, training, and engineers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including user guides, integration guides, API developer guides, release notes, and in-platform documentation (tooltips, welcome instructions, etc.). 

  • Build and maintain customer aids that go beyond traditional documentation, such as online video, demos, and other educational techniques (preferred). 

  • Learn complex concepts and communicate the information in a way that is engaging and understood by users. 

  • Edit other writers' content and documentation for consistency and continuously update content with current information and ensure consistency in training documentation across insightsoftware. 

  • Research, write, edit, and revise content that is both engaging and accessible to user personas with both non-technical and technical backgrounds. 

  • Maintain tracking to ensure deadlines are met and client deliverables are received on time. 

  • Action customer feedback on documentation to improve usability. 

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of technical writing experience or equivalent experience 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with others in writing, editing, and reviewing large or complex deliverables  

  • Demonstrated project management and organization skills 

  • Strong experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process 

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment 

  • A positive attitude, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges 

  • Familiarity with development processes for software and documentation, such as agile and scrum methodologies 

  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, and related technologies  

  • Experience working with the following tools preferred: MadCap Flare, ePublisher, Confluence/JIRA, Git & GitHub, Aha, EPM and Operational reporting solutions 

  • Ability to operate in a demanding environment with a focus and determination to achieve high-quality results 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with equity plan management software 

  • Familiarity with video-editing and production tools such as Adobe Captivate and Camtasia  

  • Experience in Information Mapping, task-based documentation, content strategy  

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined team with geographically distributed co-workers
