Job Description

insightsoftware is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, EMEA to be the most senior legal representative in EMEA supporting at one of the fastest growing, most successful software companies in the world. The primary focus will be on managing all contracting in EMEA, but the Senior Legal Counsel, EMEA will also provide support, advice and leadership on other areas such as employment law, dispute resolution, M&A, data privacy and compliance generally. Additionally, the Senior Counsel, EMEA will continuously help us scale our department as our business rapidly grows. The Senior Counsel, EMEA will be a key member of the insightsoftware leadership team, and will work in close collaboration with the business on a range of legal matters in EMEA, including integration of EMEA-based acquisitions. The Senior Counsel, EMEA must have strong leadership skills, be a thoughtful problem solver and a trusted partner for the business. The role will report to our General Counsel.

Responsibilities

Contracting Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage all contracting responsibilities and operations in EMEA, including leading, managing and mentoring the EMEA contracting team
  • Structure, review, draft and negotiate a broad range of contracts in EMEA, including license/subscription agreements, services agreements, data processing agreements, product-related agreements, facilities leases and vendor agreements
  • Continuously streamline, scale and drive improvement of contracts and contract processes with new and improved templates, guides and processes; Lead management/resolution of any EMEA contract disputes.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work independently with a high degree of accountability as senior Legal Department representative in EMEA and proactively identify legal problems and solutions
  • Provide day to day legal counsel to various departments and comprehensive management and resolution of legal enquiries from business team members in EMEA
  • Play a leadership role in the integration of newly-acquired EMEA companies
  • Advise local team on privacy law and compliance landscape, and assist in training employees
  • Manage outside counsel where appropriate to meet business goals in a timely manner
  • Support the Legal Department in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of working practices across the region
  • Other legal duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Europe or the United States
  • 6+ years of experience in a sales focused environment drafting/negotiating/structuring software licensing, subscription, SaaS and software professional services customer contracts in English
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Ability to solve complex commercial problems in negotiations and drafting
  • Strong understanding of data protection/privacy requirements, including GDPR
  • Strong understanding of legal issues affecting software companies operating in EMEA
  • Flexibility and interest in working on a broad variety of legal matters
  • Experience in legal areas outside of contracting and privacy a strong plus
  • Pragmatic and solution-driven creative thinker with excellent business judgement, comfortable navigating legal and business risks
  • Outstanding critical thinking and analytical abilities
  • Highly team oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate well with diverse, cross functional teams and build strong working relationships
  • Superior work ethic
  • Fluent English speaker
