The Junior Software Engineer role forms part of the broader CALUMO Engineering Team.

Working under an agile process using the Scrum methodology for iteration management and prioritisation, the Junior Software Engineer is responsible for many aspects of development, remediation and refactoring of the software.

Feature Development

Feature development involves working with the team in order to take new features and enhancements from inception to release. This involves coding, testing and debugging prior to release. 

Refactoring

Refactoring involves restructuring existing code in order to ensure it is maintainable and reliable. This requires analysis and alteration of code, so as it is more reliable but without influencing its external behaviour. A part of the role is learning how and when to refactor and apply those learnings when working on features or remediations to the code base so it is left in better shape than when they started the work.​

Remediation

Working as part of the team the role involves responding to bugs that arise and working to ensure that code is secure, regression free and performant.  

University degree in relevant field.

Skills Required in

• General programming concepts
• Prior experience via a University Degree or comparable commercial experience
• Verbal and non-verbal communication 

Highly Valued

• Existing experience with current web technologies
