Inmarsat’s Chief Operations Office (COO) plays a vital role managing the services that keep our business running and delivering to our customers. COO consists of 9 functions from Satellite Operations to Customer Service and Service Delivery, Network Operations and Service Assurance to Group IT, One IT, Cyber Security and the Digital office.

Job Description

  • The buyer manages the relationship and is responsible purchase orders are with suppliers, conducting research on potential products, vendors, and services, and comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal, including suppliers for inbound freight
  • On a yearly basis, the Buyer manages purchases of goods at a total value of ~$25M. Responsibility to make sure relevant information and requirements are shared with Contract teams to allow best working relationship with vendors
  • Be a source of qualified information to the Planning and Scheduling teams, monitoring inventory and writing orders to refill stock
  • Managing transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Liaising with and aligning delivery and warehouse teams to ensure goods are received on time.
  • The buyer manages the relationship and is responsible purchase orders are with suppliers, conducting research on potential products, vendors, and services, and comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal.
  • Supplier Management:
  • Master Data: Updating all records of purchased products.
  • Reporting: Writing reports on purchases made and performing cost, provisioning, delivery on time and in full, quality etc analyses
  • Support and analyse weekly and monthly reviews, including excess and obsolescence analysis.
  • Facilitate and drive collaboration with other Supply Chain functions, Sales Operations, Finance, Engineering, Service Operations team members to compile forecast data (3 Months and 12 month rolling and supporting long-term forecasts with Procurement team)
  • Hosting and/or attending and contributing to meetings with staff and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or MSc in supply chain or finance
  • Minimum 3/5 years of planning & control, finance or supply chain experience required
  • Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems required, as well as typical office applications
  • Proficiency in ERP purchasing processes as well as financial implications of such
  • Follow and issue verbal and written instructions as well as direct the work of others to meet customer needs
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships with other departments
  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity and problem solving
  • Excellent English skills, both orally and in writing
  • Accurate, perfectionist nature
