Job Description

Inland Empire Paper Company seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual for our Mill Operations  Supervisor/Process Engineer. This is a complex role that requires extensive on the job training. The ideal candidate will be seeking long term employment with significant growth opportunity. This position works very closely with superintendents, operations and maintenance in our team-centric environment to tackle day-to-day challenges as well as drive long term success. Following the initial training period, this position offers a compressed rotating schedule of 12 hours shifts made of 2 days on, 2 nights on, and 4 days off. The candidate must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide daily manufacturing process support to improve production efficiency including troubleshooting, data management and analysis
  • Work with superintendents to develop/upgrade processes to maximize capacity, utilization, minimize cost and increase performance while maintaining environmental protection; includes experimentation, research and assessment of potential technology
  • Supervise union employee workforce including training, safety, development and discipline
  • Monitor operations and report on daily activities (oral and written)
  • Provide "outside the box" ideas and creativity to improve aspects of mill operations

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management or Technical field; other related majors will be considered
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical skills to organize, interpret and draw conclusions from data
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, problem solve and execute solutions
  • Project management and organization skills; ability to prepare oral & written reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with distributed control systems preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership & change management skills
  • Knowledge of pulp & paper or other manufacturing processes is a plus
