Acrobatiq by VitalSource is hiring for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to our Research and Development team working remotely or out of our Raleigh office.  You will work as part of a highly collaborative, high performing research and development group in a small, open and friendly office. We are Python-based, but we’re always open to using the best technology.

As the Sr. Software Engineer at Acrobatiq, you would have the opportunity to be part of a team responsible for creating, developing and managing advanced, research-based innovations for building company competitive advantages. A primary focus of this group is enhancing our software products with features for helping students learn that are backed by learning science research, including developing efficient methods for automating these features at large scale.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or directly related year for year experience
• 6+ years of application developer/software engineer experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise level IT solutions
• 6+ years of experience developing in Python.
• 2+ years of experience developing and maintaining production-quality systems in a cloud platform

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in database design and production- quality implementation, Vertica preferred
• Understanding of the latest RESTful practices
• Experience developing in Ruby or Elixir, a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops complex, creative and innovative solutions for the next generation of educational learning
• Leads design for at least one major enterprise IT application
• Performs application development for database core components
• Provide full application development life cycle service, including research, prototypes, development, and support
• Provides full application development life cycle support, including specifications, prototypes, development, quality assurance and deployment
