VitalSource®, an Ingram Content Group Company, is currently recruiting for a Int. Software Engineer (ROR) to join our team in Boston, MA

As a Software Engineer you will work collaboratively with product managers, other engineering teams and support staff to create innovative solutions for the education and training industries. You will join a high functioning, forward thinking, and creative product engineering team working to build global, high-scale business-critical applications.  We work in a brand-new office one block east of Boston Common in Chinatown. We currently use Ruby on Rails, Elixir, JavaScript, ES6, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, MySQL, and GCP, and we’re always open to using the best tech.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR related year for year experience
  • 4 years of experience with in Software Engineer in a Modern Language
  • 1+ year(s) of software development experience with Ruby on Rails or Elixir (which can include school experience, internships, externships, or post graduate projects)

Preferred Skills:

  • Full-stack web development in Elixir, React, MySQL and Linux
  • Experience with large-scale web applications
  • Experience integrating with 3rd party systems via APIs
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, etc.
  • Deploying apps using Docker
  • Experience with cloud-based environments
  • Experience with relational database (MySQL) design and development
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM development environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative and innovative solutions for the next generation of educational learning
  • Provide full application development life cycle support, including specifications, prototypes, development, quality assurance and deployment with assistance from Senior and Lead Application Development
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external users as needed to support channel integration, development and support
  • Support development with appropriate documentation
  • Develops and modifies internal and external facing software as part of an Agile/SCRUM team
  • Supports development with appropriate documentation
