Job Description

Ingram Marine Group is hiring a Claims Adjuster in the Nashville, TN area. 

Claims Adjusters are responsible for investigating incidents and claims, analyzing risk issues inherent therein, participating in the litigation process with the assistance of in-house and outside counsel, as well as mediating and resolving claims at various times in the process. Claims may involve personal injury/illnesses, property damage, cargo damage and other types of claims.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Investigating and managing incidents and events resulting from marine group operations to identify proximate cause and access potential liability on the part of the organization.
  • Interfacing with vessel associates, operations managers, customer service representatives, contractors, insurance carriers, medical providers, in-house and outside counsel, and others, as required, in order to investigate and effectively process claims, as well as manage liability exposure.
  • Consulting with claimants and medical providers to obtain pertinent medical information to manage claims.
  • Maintaining accurate records and notes on all aspects of claims that fall within a manager’s geographic area of responsibility, such as take statements, obtain medical records, hire surveyors, and other relevant tasks.
  • Establishing reserves, monitoring expenditures and approving payment of necessary claim related expenses.
  • Partnering with in-house and outside counsel to formulate litigation strategy and achieve favorable results for the organization.
  • Initiating and monitoring various requested Coast Guard documentation (such as 2692 forms).
  • Maintaining claim files and system records.
  • Supporting department activities with regular and prompt attendance.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques
  • Understanding of litigation process

Degree Required:  High School Diploma / GED

Years of Experience Preferred: 3-5
