Job Description

Google Analytical Specialist 

This position will focus on the implementation of refined strategies for analytics reporting and metrics
tracking and strategies for measurement reporting related to search portals. Requires an understanding
of the latest practices of web analytics tracking, search engine optimization (SEO), and understanding
how tools and resources (e.g., transactional web logs and web analytics) can be utilized to support
dissemination best practices. This work will provide expertise to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) related to the implementation of search engine
optimization and web metrics / analytics reporting strategies for OSTI-built web applications, including a
major electronic workflow system for scientific and technical information and multiple public-facing
search portals for dissemination of information. 

This is a full time job opportunity.  This position will be located at DOE - OSTI in Oak Ridge, TN.  


Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Exhibit confident communication skills to effectively present web content analysis and search engine engagement strategies, tactical plans and web traffic performance to clients and cross-department internal teams
  • Experience working with developers and product managers implementing analytics and SEO strategies and tactical plans
  • Work alongside web application developers, product managers, and systems engineers to develop plans and timelines for implementation strategies and analysis
  • Work closely with product managers to understand product usage and users to optimize content analysis for improved content delivery
  • Monitor, analyze and provide insights on website online traffic usage and SEO performance
  • Monitor and administer transactional web logs, web analytics dashboards, reports and key reporting tools, and point out key areas of importance in accordance client goals
  • Technical SEO knowledge and experience working with website developers to implement XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical URLs, 301 redirects, local business schema markup, internal linking strategies, URL structures, and more
  • Proactively identify new keyword opportunities, then recommend detailed content strategies to capitalize on them – recommending ideation, collaborating with content writers and web developers, and analyzing post-implementation performance
  • Perform SEO competitive SWOT analysis to help inform web analytics methodologies and SEO content strategies
  • Analyze complex datasets and weblogs for creating plans for ideation, creation and performance reporting
  • Knowledgeable on current web analytics tools, analytics and SEO industry trends, and related best practices
  • Create recommendations regarding process improvements
  • Create reporting tools and methodologies for SEO and web analytics performance

    Additional Information

    Education and Experience:

    • 2-3 years of experience with website analysis using a variety of analytics tools including Google Analytics, Google Analytics 360, or WebTrends
    • 2-3 years of experience in Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
    • Google Analytics certification preferred
    • Experience working with popular keyword tools (Google, WordTracker, Keyword Discovery, etc)
    • Course work and or experience in computer programing preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Communications or related field preferred
    • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and website administrations preferred
    • Knowledge of writing Splunk queries preferred
