Role Overview

Omdia, part of Informa TechTarget, Inc. (Nasdaq: TTGT) is a market research and consulting group that offers deep analysis of the semiconductor industry and major semiconductor component markets such as MCU/MPU, memory (DRAM, NAND Flash), power semiconductor and MEMS/sensors. 

As a member of Omdia’s semiconductor research team leading the Application Market Forecast Tool (AMFT), the Principal Analyst is responsible for fulfilling delivery and developing market leading data and analysis in support of strategy planning for the world’s leading companies.

As a Principal Analyst for the semiconductor market industry, you will establish and lead a compelling, commercially relevant research agenda, clearly positioning the team and Omdia as the definitive source of insight, and at the forefront of thought leadership within the semiconductor industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be a leading voice for semiconductor market analysis and strategy, instrumental in shaping the delivery of thought-leading research.
• Through knowledge and experience, this candidate will have achieved external recognition as an expert in the field of worldwide semiconductor markets.
• Developing and conducting primary and secondary research on the semiconductor components industry. Authoring expert and detailed quantitative, qualitative, and insightful analysis which goes beyond data sets by bringing your experience and knowledge to formulate a complete and insightful view of the complete semiconductor industry.  Not only what is happening today but also providing insight into potential future activities.
• Produce written insights and press material that provides a solution perspective; is opinionated, thinks outside of the box and looks for opportunities to comment on industry news; highly recognized within coverage areas primary research.
• Maintain a comprehensive model of the semiconductor market, including but not limited to semiconductor components and applications.
• Collaborate with semiconductor analysts to align assumptions, revenue and shipment numbers across multiple projects, ensuring a consistent and cohesive view of the complete semiconductor market. Liaise with equipment analysts in other Omdia teams to gather data, understand market dynamics, and validate forecast assumptions.
• Respond to inquiries from internal colleagues and external clients regarding datasets, methodologies, and underlying assumptions.  Provide strong supporting evidence and reasoning to justify Omdia’s position.
• Take ownership of the model and datasets, demonstrating agility to adapt as market conditions evolve, transform data structures, and incorporate new research areas driving by customer demand.
• Regular international travel to attend industry events, meet with top level clients and participate in regular discussions on key market trends such as the impact of technology, expansion plans, macro and micro-economic impacts; include guidance and opinions on risks and opportunities.
• Partner with the sales and product development teams to generate new leads, progress existing leads, and support renewals; use scoping to continually evolve the research offering.
• Ability to multitask and meet deliverable deadlines on a regular basis.
• This position requires the ability to effectively communicate thought-provoking and original analytical findings to a global client base that includes semiconductor equipment and manufacturing companies, technology providers, government agencies, industry associations, and the financial community.

• 8+ years in industry or as a recognised semiconductor market analyst
• Leading industry knowledge of the semiconductor components and applications ecosystem
• Ability to write detailed, insightful and opinionated reports in a structured and concise way
• Experienced public speaker and proven thought leader; ability to communicate a strong and consistent market narrative through various channels
• Highly competent in forming personal opinions on industry trends, and expressing those opinions with backing data
• Established and comprehensive network of senior industry players, ability to informally call on senior contacts for updates
• Strong Excel database and pivot table expertise
• Advanced ability to find and piece together insight from multiple sources and to connect the dots; thinks big picture about market, not just the issue at hand
• Multitasking – ability to prioritize and delegate competing tasks effectively
• Experienced in hosting customer briefings and leading customer calls
• Willing and able to travel regularly, often worldwide to meet with clients and gain valuable industry contacts
