Job Description
We're looking for 3 Desk Editors to join our new Beijing team! This is your chance to be part of an exciting launch and make your mark.
We are looking for talented Desk Editors to join our team in Beijing, working closely with our established global team. You will be an important part of a ground-breaking team that provides a streamlined, personalised, rigorous publishing service to enhance our author’s research. Our mantra is pace, ease, quality, service and trust.

What you’ll be doing:
Help us foster human progress through knowledge! As a Desk Editor, you will aid in our mission by:
- Taking responsibility for an end-to-end submission and peer review process with prompt in-house processing of manuscripts;
- Ensuring the highest levels of publication ethics and integrity standards are maintained on the Journal;
- Having a strong author service mentality, providing timely, friendly and professional communication with authors;
- Collaborating with the Publisher, Commissioning Editor (where applicable) and journal Editors to support overall journal growth and development.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant science, technology and medicine (STM) knowledge and experience in academic publishing;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey messages clearly, concisely and accurately, in both English and Mandarin;
- An understanding of best practice and gold standards in academic research and publication ethics and integrity;
- Knowledge of principles for ethical research involving humans and animals;
- Confidence in evaluating scientific rigor and integrity of manuscripts;
- A strong familiarity with the academic research community and relevant organizations;
- Ability to build and manage relationships with authors, peer reviewers, editors, and other colleagues;
- An inquisitive nature, maintaining current knowledge related to developments and trends in respective areas of expertise;
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, remaining unfazed by change;
- Takes a proactive approach toward learning new technologies and processes;
- Someone who acts with integrity and accountability;
- Ability to make data-driven informed decisions synthesizing information from a wide range of sources;
- Strong critical thinking skills and confidence to make decisions;
- Thorough and detail oriented.

Location:
- This role is based in Beijing, and you must have the right to work and live in China
- We believe that great things happen when people connect face-to-face. That's why we work in-person with each other, or with customers and partners, three days a week or more. When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.
- The successful candidate will be able to utilise our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance to our Beijing office (Culture Square, Haidian) to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office location 3 days per week.
- Relocation support is not provided for this role.
