Housing Manager
Position Overview
The Housing Manager plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of hotel accommodations for Informa trade shows and events. Acting as the key liaison between Informa’s event teams, hotel partners, official housing agency, attendees, and exhibitors, the Housing Manager oversees the entire lifecycle of event housing—from strategy development and system implementation to inventory management and quality assurance.
This role is responsible for maximizing hotel bookings and ensuring an exceptional guest experience while maintaining alignment with contractual obligations and financial targets. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional with a strategic mindset, operational expertise, and strong relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Housing Strategy & Project Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive housing strategies tailored to each assigned show/event.
- Manage the housing strategy with the official housing agency.
- Establish and manage project timelines to meet all internal and external deadlines.
- Conduct quality assurance audits prior to event launch in the reservation system.
- Build and maintain events within the Reservation System, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain revenue projections, event budgets, and periodic reforecasts.
- Hotel Relations & Inventory Oversight
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hotel partners, ensuring compliance with contract terms and delivering high service standards.
- Negotiate hotel contracts.
- Manage room block inventory, identifying opportunities to optimize allocations and minimize attrition.
- Analyze historical data, current performance, and market trends to inform buying strategies and boost bookings.
- Leverage hotel industry knowledge to negotiate additional value through concessions, comps, and flexible terms.
Customer Service & Support
- Process and manage reservations for VIPs, staff, and guests as required.
- Collaborate with internal show teams to ensure the optimal use of complimentary room nights and amenities.
- Act as a key resource for attendees and exhibitors requiring housing assistance.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Foster strong, ongoing relationships with hotel global sales offices, property contacts, and convention & visitor bureaus (CVBs).
- Maintain consistent communication with internal stakeholders, providing updates and insights on room block performance and event status.
- Represent Informa in industry events and hotel partner meetings to support broader business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu.
- Relevant experience in hotel sales, convention services, or group reservations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Spanish fluency is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Analytical thinker with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative, team-focused mindset with a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with housing management or CRM systems is a plus.
