Job Description

Omdia, a leading provider of technology research and insights, is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Analyst to lead and shape two of our most successful Telecoms intelligence services: Telco Software & AI and Telco Cloud & Network Automation. This is a unique opportunity to drive thought leadership, deliver impactful research, and influence the future of the telecoms industry.

About the Role

As a Senior Principal Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, commercially relevant research and insights. You will be at the forefront of industry trends, including OSS/BSS, network cloudification, AI, and automation, while mentoring junior analysts and representing Omdia as a trusted thought leader. Your contributions will directly enhance our research quality, product development, marketing efforts, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Thought Leadership

  • Produce insightful, opinionated reports that clients and prospects actively seek.
  • Provide expert commentary on industry news and trends, establishing yourself as a recognized thought leader in the telecoms space.
  • Represent Omdia at high-profile industry events and forums.

Research & Analysis

  • Lead primary research efforts, including interviews with key industry stakeholders and face-to-face meetings to build strong relationships.
  • Deliver qualitative analysis that explains market developments, highlights risks and opportunities, and provides actionable guidance.
  • Develop market forecasts using robust primary and secondary research, clearly documenting assumptions and creating compelling narratives around market trends.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Coach and mentor junior analysts, fostering their professional growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality research.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product management, and leadership, to align research with customer needs and business goals.

Client Engagement & Sales Support

  • Partner with the sales team to identify new opportunities, support client renewals, and drive custom research projects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing market intelligence and insights that address their most pressing challenges.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will bring the following experience and qualifications:

  • Industry Expertise: Recognized as a thought leader with 10+ years of experience as an analyst or working within the telecoms industry.
  • Telecoms Knowledge: Deep understanding of telecom service provider network strategies and operations, with a proven ability to analyze and interpret industry trends.
  • Established Network: Comes with a strong network of senior industry players, enabling access to key insights and relationships.
  • Research & Writing Skills: Demonstrated ability to produce detailed, insightful, and opinionated reports in a structured and concise manner.
  • Public Speaking: Experience hosting customer briefings, delivering webinars, and speaking at industry events, showcasing confidence and expertise.
  • Collaboration: A collaborative mindset with examples of successful teamwork and the ability to mentor and support colleagues.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel for data manipulation, including pivot table creation, and the ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Innovative Thinking: A creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions.
  • Time Management: Strong prioritization skills to manage competing tasks effectively, with a focus on delegating manual tasks where possible to optimize efficiency.
