Job Description

This role is open to candidates based in the UK. You must have the right to live and work in the UK. Closing date for applications: 28th May 2024.

This role sits in the Open Research Channel team, which works globally across regions to grow Taylor & Francis’ open research partnerships in coordination with regional commercial teams. The role will be responsible for the coordination of data insights and analysis to enable commercial teams to identify key open research partners. The role will work to support the development of new, data-driven, open research commercial models and support the evolution of existing models. They will build user friendly and intuitive dashboards, that enable simple storytelling for complex narratives. They will drive OR business through an understanding of the needs of both researchers, as well as the funders and institutions that ensure the success of their research. Through analysis and insights, the role will work with the OR channel team to expand OR partnerships, delivering Taylor & Francis’ OR growth to academic, research funding, and corporate stakeholders. 

The Open Research Sales Insights Manager will be one of the key OR industry experts across the company with a deep understanding of academic, corporate, pharmaceutical, and other markets. It will be crucial to keep up to date with developments related to OR publishing in all regions, working with cross-departmental teams on strategic partnerships, supporting adjustments to our current offering to these developments where appropriate. They will work closely with the Market Intelligence and Research Analytics Department to develop commercial insights, monitor key metrics, models, and competitors with a view to commercial position globally and by region. They will confidently communicate relevant insights across the business to ensure regional teams are well placed to support partners in their territories. They will ensure consistent use of data systems across the Commercial department and related functions, so that they can synthesize data and identify patterns with a view to new model development and piloting. They will predict trends and recommend actions based on findings. The role will coordinate with product, editorial, and marketing teams to ensure integration of commercial insights.


  • Strong working knowledge of the OR publishing landscape and current market trends, along with a real drive to support and help colleagues in their field sales activity involving OR products and propositions;
  • Excellent data-literacy: ability to analyse data, gather relevant market intelligence, identify patterns and trends, make relevant, strategic business recommendations.
  • Previous commercial, business development, or sales support experience, such as territory and account management, enabling you to understand sales cycles, purchasing and procurement decision making;
  • A flexible outlook with quick, critical thinking and decision-making skills. You will be someone who thrives working in a dynamic environment;
  • A passion for identifying and driving process improvements with a naturally curious mindset.
  • Ability to coordinate with and influence internal stakeholders with excellent communication skills
  • Project and time management skills, with the ability to proactively prioritise your time and resources to best effect
  • A strong team player

Experience with corporate markets would be beneficial.

This role will be worked predominantly from home in the UK, with regular attendance at our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
