The role of AI Engineer / Analyst / Specialist (depending on seniority) will join our team of technologists responsible for incubating new and novel software/data initiatives that drive growth and explore new markets for Taylor & Francis. This role operates within the Taylor & Francis technology organisation and reports to the Director of Artificial Intelligence Innovation. We are looking for an experienced AI practitioner to join the team, using data science, machine learning and AI technologies to help us improve various business outcomes and drive innovation. Our focus is on Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, and Multi-Modal Generative AI.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to experiment with different ML/AI technologies, in large part related to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Knowledge Representation (KG), to solve crucial business problems.
  • Understand and help refine the requirements of new products, services, and concepts.
  • Support the development of AI/ML-based prototypes, MVPs, and new products.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Qualifications

    • Hands-on prototyping and R&D in AI -- but we will look at candidates of exceptional skills and acumen independently of their seniority (compensation will be related to seniority).
    • Required: Proven knowledge of AI and NLP, including Python and common tools such as Github, Pandas, Numpy, Sklearn, NLTK, PyTorch, Tensorflow, GPT, BERT, SageMaker, etc.
    • Also required: Entrepreneurial spirit, autonomy, teamwork, explorative skills (agile / lean, need discovery), comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, problem solving, results oriented, a doer. Must have a proven history of progressing from concept to MVP quickly and iteratively.
    • Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas will capture our attention:
    1. Knowledge Graphs, Graph DBs (neo4j, AWS Neptune), graph AI (e.g., PyKEEN, neo4j DS, etc.);
    2. AI-based data deduplication, conditional merging, entity disambiguation and linking;
    3.  Mastering of AWS MLOps (SageMaker Studio, S3, ECR, Lambda), DVC, data engineering and big data technologies (e.g., ELT/ETL, Hadoop, Spark, AWS EMR, etc.);
    4.  Text generation (GPT 3/3.5, etc.), advanced text summarization, multi-modal generative AI.
    • Also appreciated: ElasticSearch, Mongo DB, Postgres, Java, Scrum, Jira, knowledge of academic publishing processes
