Job Description

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform administrative tasks such as entering information into company-wide platforms
  • Send contracts and register new authors
  • Assist the Acquisitions Editor (AE) with developing new projects
  • Prepare manuscripts for production
  • Work closely within a squad system to assist when needed
  • Assist the AE with organizational tasks
  • Use Excel to facilitate reports and maintain list data
  • Learn how to research and evaluate authors and their submissions linked to higher academic curriculums and research topics
  • Draft and edit promotional copy
  • When called upon, assist Publishers, Senior Publishers, and Division Directors
  • Work closely with our Production Department to initiate the process of producing and printing publications

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Strong organizational skills and or ability to learn the same
  • Desire to learn the business of publishing
  • An insatiable curiosity 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of grammar, usage, and spelling
  • Strong ability to work within the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to prioritize and handle various tasks at the same time
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability and willingness to work within a team environment
  • Willingness to take direction in a support role
  • Familiarity with proper email etiquette
  • A facility to initiate needed tasks on your own initiative
  • Some experience within a complex organization is a plus
  • Experience in publishing, libraries, bookstores is a plus

You must have the right to work and live in your work in the United States 

This role will be based remotely from home with the option to visit the office up to several times per week (post-Covid)
