Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced publishing professional with a passion for Open Research to join our Books Editorial division, for a 9 month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic role for an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset to take the lead on the successful development and implementation of new Open Access business models.

This role requires excellent communication, project management and market research skills. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to explore new market opportunities and develop innovative new ways to publish our Open Access content, leading the process from concept to launch.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading on the successful implementation of new Open Access business models
  • Exploring innovative chapter-led Open Access content
  • Developing a suite of Open Educational Resources for teaching and learning
  • Evolving new business models in conjunction with colleagues at F1000
  • Liaising with multiple departments across our books and journals business
  • Gathering customer-focused input to drive product and concept development
  • Monitoring and analysing competitor activity
  • Working closely with the other members of the Open Access team in books editorial.

Qualifications

What we are ideally looking for:

  • A good understanding of Open Access, the higher education ecosystem and academic publishing
  • A track record of developing product portfolios and working with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrable project management experience and the ability to oversee multiple projects with a quick turnaround
  • Results-driven and commercially focused with a self-starter attitude to achieving success
  • A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for how to streamline or improve a process to the benefit of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
