We have embarked on an ambitious programme to enhance our capabilities as a digital knowledge business and are now looking to add an Automation and Workflow Management Senior Analyst  to contribute to our Next Generation Digital Production workstream and help introduce end-to-end digital process orchestration and workflow automation across T&F’s Researcher Services business targeting implementation of sophisticated automation capabilities across our content transformation processes and workflows to begin with.

You will be a passionate and driven member of our Enabling Platforms team working with colleagues from across Researcher Services, Product, Architecture, Business Analysis and Engineering to help us execute our transformation towards high levels of automation across Researcher services processes and workflows.  

It will be essential for you to demonstrate relevant experience of implementing workflow management system capabilities which help orchestrate end-to-end processes and achieve high levels of automation across business processes. Your process analyst and automation skills form part of a range of excellent analysis, design, communication, and collaboration skills. Importantly, you will be able to demonstrate resilience, agility, and innovation in your approach to your work. 

You will be working on our Next Generation Digital Production initiative first but there will be scope to help extend out the new capabilities across the Researcher Services and Advanced knowledge value streams at Taylor & Francis.

Job Description

A new opportunity has been created at Taylor & Francis for an experienced Automation and Workflow Management Senior Analyst with a background in the delivery of digital end-to-end process orchestration and workflow automation and transformation. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to be involved in the development of this role appropriate to the needs of the business and as we evolve the implementation of automation capabilities in Researcher Services. 

The role holder will develop custodial ownership of end-to-end process design with a level of agility that understands current state and supports business innovation to help us evolve our end-to-end process orchestration as business needs evolve and we develop our platform automation capabilities in the Researcher Services domain. You will be helping us to seed a new platform and a new way of working and have responsibility for maintaining and continuously helping to innovate end-to-end processes in the automation capability. 

You will work with a team and stakeholders, designing and supporting the delivery of effective and efficient business processes and workflow automation, which transform and enable the organisation’s end-to-end service delivery goals.

Further you will help us devise an assessment tool to help identify opportunities for automation across the organization and thus enable extension of the capability across its original content transformation use case.

What you'll be doing:

  • Accountable for providing a quality design service to customers and stakeholders, using skills and experience built through significant practical experience or training in process orchestration and automation 
  • Contribute to the process review activities in Journals Production, create business process models, document business requirements and design documentation to enable the implementation of a WMS capability as a key component in our content transformation technology stack. You will provide the assets that will enable our WMS designers to onboard new processes and workflows and allow our developers to integrate the WMS capability into our technology stack 
  • Rapidly develop your understanding of Taylor & Francis’ Journals and Researcher Services domain and business processes and use this to inform and play an integral role in transforming the content transformation capabilities in Journals Production towards end-to-end process orchestration and workflow automation in innovative ways 
  • Work at the interface of business and engineers to document the necessary process maps and assets to enable the configuration of a WMS capability in Journals Production 
  • Develop and maintain an automation assessment tool for identification of eligible processes across Taylor & Francis 
  • Make suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations and deliver designs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
  • Develop and own process automation frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them across a range of use cases
  • Act as a Centre of Enablement for design ownership and development of automation capabilities 



  • Experience with BPMS, WMS & RPA process design implementations modelling complex IT and operational processes. Please indicate specific tools you have worked on as part of your application (e.g. Pega, Appian, IBM, Bizagi, K2 are desirable)
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of common BPMN 2.0 elements and principles
  • Experience translating written and spoken narrative into structured process models
  • Experience eliciting business and systems processes from a range of technical and operational stakeholders
  • Multi-year ownership & refinement of initial designs and delivery of value through continuous process improvement
  • Be facilitator to growing levels of maturity of business process understanding and best practice development
  • Strong innovative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Well-developed intercultural awareness and extensive experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team to shape and build digital products and services
  • Strives in start-up culture, i.e. the place you will join us at will not be where we’ll end up 
  • Knowledge of business analysis techniques and methodologies, understanding how best to apply them to different situations
  • Experience of using Lean methodologies to drive tangible business results
  • An adaptable attitude able to fit the improvement techniques to the culture and audience
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Must be confident communicating with stakeholders at various levels within the organization
  • Well organised and deadline driven, able to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Highly motivated and team player
