Informa Tech is making a step change in how we approach Product & Technology. As part of this a new CPTO has been hired a and an overall function has been created for Product & Technology. We need a Head of Technical Delivery to lead the Technology function to work closely with the rest of the overall Product & Technology function. They will build a team and provide technical leadership and guidance within the Technology function in Tech. This will span digital as well as back-office technologies. They will identify and implement PoCs with emerging technologies that could benefit Tech in its march to becoming a digital business. The individual will work with the CPTO about enhancing our existing platforms and products as well on the creation of new ones as we seek to optimise our portfolio and grow our clients and audience in years to come. They will be responsible for ensuring that solutions the “new” Product & Technologies team creates are optimally designed to meet internal and external user needs, are appropriately integrated with other systems and fit neatly into the overall enterprise architectural landscape. They will foster a culture of rapid, quality design & technical execution using test driven development. The focus will be on business impact and overall outcomes at all times.

Job Description

The Head Of Technical Delivery is expected to assume the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:

●       Build the team and provide leadership and direction to the nascent Technology team. They will provide expertise for specific problems, professional development guidance and general subject matter education 

●       Create and use an appropriate software development lifecycle for Tech technology team (light-weight), including infra, test-driven-development, DevOps methodology, QA approach, etc. This needs to include practical ways of working for the team to adopt

●       Work closely with business functions & Group Technology leaders to continuously reprioritise the most important projects. Work closely with GT leadership on the implementation of the evolving operating model, to ensure continuous seamless delivery and handoffs between departments

●       Research industry trends and identify emerging technologies Tech should consider using to help meet its objectives, stand up PoCs against proof points, then help translate into projects

●       Provide technical leadership on standing up Tech’s innovation delivery model. Design and own Tech infrastructure approach for R&D efforts

●       Ensure solutions we design, fit neatly into the overall enterprise architectural landscape. Oversee solution design efforts from Tech developers. Align with Group Technology on architectural governance. And that they cover end to end (includes commercial systems)

●       Accountable for adopting a suitable approach for MVP vs Enterprise for R&D efforts Infra, security, scalability, etc). Plan and manage transitions to GT for platforms that start in Tech and become cross-divisional. Ensure tech debt is managed effectively

●       Liaise with Group Technology Platform services to ensure integrations are handled consistently

●       Provide support to business leads in developing costs for business cases

●       Assist with external 3rd party vendor selection for Tech needs

●       Collaborate with a broad range of teams in a complex, global environment

●       Own budgets and forecasts for the team

●       Lead & facilitate change control governance and liaise with delivery and business teams on change management

●       Oversee 3rd party delivery into Tech (support, quality, contract management, security, supplier reviews)

●       Oversee internal Tech Ops, only for platforms we support

●       Ensure technical integration activities with Group Technology & 3rd parties conforms to agreed Informa standards

Qualifications

The skills, abilities & knowledge we're looking for:

●       Proven track record in a technical leadership role, showing ability to acquire domain expertise of markets, products and platforms

●       Proven track record working in modern digitally-focused organisations; implementing, operating and maximising value from tech stacks

●       Leadership skills – ability to form, lead, coach and develop a cross-functional team and work with a range of stakeholders 

●       Experience in the design thinking process, agile development, and lean start up methodologies

●       Adept at applying emerging technologies in a business environment (digital and non-digital)

●       Able to create approach and frameworks for new ways of working

●       Strong ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity and flux

●       Competent in architecture – enterprise, solution, technical

●       Stakeholder skills – proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders, business and technical

●       Energetic, confident self-starter with a passion for technology

●       Expert communication skills and the ability to get buy-in on ideas within a large matrixed organization

●       A high degree of creativity, empathy, passion, and problem-solving ability

●       Operational understanding of media, events, research and training an advantage
