Job Description

Taylor & Francis Group (including Routledge and CRC Press imprints) has an exciting opportunity for a Development Editor - Digital Learning  (DEDL), to join a new team within the Books division. Part of the Editorial department, the Digital Learning Development Team is responsible for identifying, developing, and commissioning digital resources to drive revenue for key titles within the textbook publishing programme.

Working with authors and in-house editors, this full-time position will play a pivotal role in developing and commissioning a variety of interactive and accessible digital resources to provide learning tools and technologies to support the effective teaching and learning of HE courses. Using primary and secondary market research to identify appropriate content and suitable formats for the resources the DEDL will manage all internal and external stakeholder communications, and manage the online resources from inception to delivery, as well as developing an online content strategy for the resources each semester.

The DEDL will be responsible for a range of tasks to ensure that our key titles deliver maximum value to the business, including:

  • Developing the most effective digital resources to improve learning outcomes and drive student engagement
  • Ensuring digital resources are delivered on time and to the highest standards
  • Publishing digital resources on a regular revision cycle
  • Regularly updating digital content to drive usage

In conjunction with Sales and Marketing colleagues, the DLDE will help to develop effective go-to-market strategies to ensure that and students are aware of the online resources, and the benefits they bring to the teaching and learning experience, as well as providing supporting training tools.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Researches and provides recommendations for DLAs to help drive premium plus textbook sales.
  • Selects and implements appropriate methodologies to support research.
  • Works directly with key stakeholders, including authors and in-house editors, to develop and deliver DLA content, and updates, on time and to budget. Manages the full development process, from conception to publication, where required.
  • Ensures that key titles are published on a new edition cycle. Works with Sales and Marketing to develop go-to-market plans, ensure timely content launches, and provide post-publication monthly usage data to all stakeholders.
  • Acts as a development champion with internal stakeholders to ensure buy-ins and support across other departments.
  • Accountability for managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of higher-education/academic publishing
  • Industry and market awareness
  • Research skills
  • Established project management skills for small projects
  • Dedication to high-quality work supporting our customers and the business
