Job Details:

JOB TITLE/ROLE : DB2 Administrator

DURATION : 6 MOnths CTH

LOCATION : St. Louis MO

 


Roles and Responsibilities: 

Candidates will perform multiple enhancements and upgrades to the current USPS programs. This may include: 

Research, design, develop, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. 

Be involved in the planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. 

Develop and maintain database schemas to include normalization and de-normalization 

Monitor Databases for reliability and performance 

DB2 Database Experience is required. 

  

Basic Qualifications: 

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed 

below: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline. 

At least 7 years of overall database related work experience. 

DB2 Database experience 

Mainframe experience 

Database Definition Language (DDL) 

Be able to create tables and indexes. 

Be able to lookup indexes, stored procedures and triggers for a specific table. 

Structured Query Language (SQL) 

Be able write complex queries to extract data from DB2 database 

Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes 

Help developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes 

Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, etc.) 

Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance 

Physical and logical data modeling 

Database normalization and de-normalization 

Monitoring databases for reliability and performance 

JCL experience 

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Must be a Self-Starter 

 

Desired Qualifications 

Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL is a plus
