Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Layer7 API Services Engineer to support and evolve mission‑critical API infrastructures in a 24/7 production environment. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technical professional with deep expertise in Layer7 API Gateway, API lifecycle management, security, performance, and platform operations. You will act as an L3 reference, ensuring reliability, security and continuity across complex API ecosystems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure and evolve API services on the Layer7 platform, ensuring performance, availability and compliance with organizational standards;
  • Perform advanced L3 administration, troubleshoot complex incidents and lead root‑cause analysis across API gateway, security, networking and integration layers;
  • Manage API deployments and migrations across environments (DEV → UAT → PROD), ensuring safe, controlled and auditable release processes;
  • Administer Layer7 API Gateway instances, portals and related components, supporting onboarding, publication and governance of API services;
  • Manage the lifecycle of digital certificates, including creation, renewal, installation and validation, ensuring secure API communication;
  • Configure and maintain SSL/TLS, IP whitelisting, access control policies and other security mechanisms aligned with best practices;
  • Perform platform patching, upgrades and preventive maintenance, ensuring stability and operational readiness;
  • Monitor platform health, including processes, memory, databases and system components, proactively addressing performance or availability risks;
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, providing L2/L3 support and coordinating with cross‑functional technical teams when required;
  • Create and maintain operational procedures, runbooks and technical documentation to support platform governance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in API platform administration within production environments;
  • Strong background in Layer7 API Gateway (Broadcom/CA) administration, configuration and support;
  • Experience working in multi‑customer or service‑center environments (MSP/outsourcing) is highly valued;
  • Solid knowledge of API technologies (REST, SOAP), authentication and authorization mechanisms;
  • Strong expertise in SSL/TLS, certificate management and API security concepts;
  • Good understanding of Linux/Unix or Windows Server environments, OS‑level troubleshooting and middleware operations;
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers and proxies;
  • Experience with monitoring tools, incident management and ITIL‑aligned change processes;
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to perform root‑cause troubleshooting and manage priorities under pressure;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams;
  • Organized, autonomous, customer‑oriented and comfortable working in demanding, SLA‑driven environments;
  • Fluent English required; French or Dutch are considered a plus.
